The Global College is a unique school because it uses a holistic approach to education – the curriculum focuses not only on academics, but also on preparing students for the future. With a well-rounded curriculum and supportive atmosphere, our school ensures that students develop the necessary skills and mindset to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
Fostering Independence and Resilience
Cultivating independence and resilience is at the heart of TGC’s educational approach.
At The Global College you are in charge of your subject choices, sports selection, and extracurricular activities. The Global College doesn’t have a uniform, so you can be creative about expressing yourself and choosing what to wear (within certain guidelines). All of this sparkles independence in students by teaching them how to make responsible choices starting from a young age.
TGC has an open campus, which means that you can do extracurricular activities, study, or go out with your friends for lunch during free periods and be back on time for your lessons. Therefore, an open campus experience offered by TGC prepares students for the future by giving them an opportunity to learn how to manage their time well. Moreover, the campus is open beyond class hours and during weekends so students can make the best of the spaces to study or work on their own projects.
The College also offers a boarding school experience, which as I mentioned in my previous article “How being a boarding student makes you more independent”, provides students with a unique opportunity to learn self-management and decision-making skills.
Overall, students are empowered to take charge of their lives, which not only prepares them for future studies in university but also for the demands of adulthood.
Cultural Diversity and Interpersonal Skills
The diverse student body and international community at the College fosters a global mindset and allows to building of strong interpersonal skills. Through interactions with peers from different backgrounds and cultures, students learn to adapt, effectively communicate, and build life-long friendships with people from all around the world. These experiences not only enrich student’s academic journey by expanding their knowledge in various subjects such as politics, history, and culture but also prepare students to navigate an interconnected world with empathy and understanding.
Embracing Innovation and Critical Thinking
Innovation and critical thinking are crucial in today’s rapidly changing world. TGC integrates innovative teaching methods and encourages students to think creatively, solve problems, and challenge existing solutions. Whether through project-based learning, entrepreneurship lessons, or collaborative projects, students are constantly encouraged to push existing boundaries and explore new ideas.
For example, last week during the ESS classes we were examining the soils from different parts of our planet and tested it’s different qualities. It was a really useful experience, because we could improve our group working skills while doing something fun!
Technology as a Catalyst for Learning
Technology is seamlessly integrated into every aspect of education at The Global College. From interactive classrooms to online resources, students have access to the tools and technologies that enhance their learning experience. Whether it’s virtual simulations during Environmental Systems and Societies classes or online research sources such as Jastor (a digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources), TGC ensures that students are equipped with the digital literacy skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
Preparation for Global Citizenship
Beyond academic excellence, The Global College instills in its students a sense of responsibility towards global issues and encourages them to become active global citizens. Through the global awareness programs such as the plastic awareness campaign run by students (during which we collected plastic used by all students and staff throughout one day, and stored it in a Fishtank for the community to visualize the amount of plastic used in school on a daily basis), and entrepreneurship projects, TGC allows each member to develop a sense of empathy, social responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
In all aspects, teaching and learning at the College goes beyond traditional education and fosters an environment of growth. The Global College is a place where each student becomes a well-rounded individual who is not only academically proficient but also equipped with the skills, values, and mindset to live meaningful and fulfilling lives in the future.
